Creating an app for your brand is becoming an essential component of consumer engagement. I was tasked with creating a crude recipe app for our Hidden Valley Brand to demonstrate the viability of the idea and pitch it to the brand team for funding (sometimes the only way of getting buy-in on an idea is showing them!).
I’ve read that 2014 is “The Year of the Prototype” as more tools emerge for designers to bring their interactive projects to life without the cost-prohibitive development stage. I used the web application InVision to simulate a working app that I could perform some basic usability testing on employees and then consumers. The process taught me quite a bit about mobile user experience and sparked a desire for further knowledge in the rapidly growing area.
