On the heels of an expensive lawsuit where an agency “copied” a simple pattern, the Clorox legal team was a bit skittish with using any kind of stock imagery. The client picked this french “Brocade” pattern to move forward with for their Designer Series canister.
My assignment was to completely modify the pattern so that if you placed the original on a Lightbox, literally not one curve would align. I opted to started from scratch and hand-crafted my own brocade pattern. Everyone was satisfied … except legal.
